NGRS Narrow Gauge and Miniature Railways Guide: PUBLIC Edition 2018

The latest guide (Mar 2018) is now available as a PDFile 2018 ANNUAL GUIDE : PUBLIC EDITION.

Your Personal Details:

Members should regularly check their personal details, especially after email or house address changes. This MemberMojo  link, also available via the 'Membership' page on the left, will allow you  to check and amend your details. The Data Protection Act, as it affects the NGRS, can be found on the same page and will be updated before May 25th 2018.

2019 AGM News :

We have pleasure in making available the full AGM pack including all reports and other details.

Full details of the Society AGM to be held on the 11th May 2019 at Ruswarp Village Hall near Whitby in North Yorkshire, together with Registration and Voting forms are available here in an interactive PDF format.  Dependent upon your browser you may not be able to complete the interactive form properly, please save the form and open it in your pdf viewer (eg Acrobat Reader). It may then be completed, saved and submitted. The form also requires the user to create an electronic signature, the signature box includes instructions to guide you step by step through the process; (Note: country is GB) and you can use your electronic signature again for many other things if you retain your password.

An additional document to assist with directions and parking is available here.   Links to the menu for the Ship Inn and the Golden Lion are provided to assist you in completing the Registration Form . NB: The Golden Lion has recently changed hands and  this is the previous menu, which I hope is indicative of the available fare.

A copy of the Statutory Accounts referred to in the Voting form (resolution 1) may be found here

A further feature for those of you who are technically proficient with your Sat-Nav is a Places of Interest (POI) file in

a variety of formats and with two different Icons. This will allow you to include the AGM locations as easily accessible destinations and avoid entering addresses etc.   Note that the NGRS take no responsibility for the accuracy of the data or for any damage you may do to your Sat-Nav.

A copy of the Minutes of the previous AGM (2018) are available here.

For it's rarity and for interest, we have retained a link here to a video Running on Air taken at Lea Bailey Mine on 10th May, the AGM Weekend of 2015 in the Forest of Dean

Over the last few years, the Society has enjoyed considerable growth in our library collection and resources, and it continues to grow !!  This expansion meant that a printed Library list would be expensive to produce, and be difficult to keep up to date for members.  We have therefore trialled an on-line catalogue.  Following feedback from members, it was felt that an easier way to search was required, rather than the multi-tab spreadsheet format offered.

Members will find a simple LIBRARY SEARCH tool in the Library section of this website which will open in a new window. Alongside this, members will still be able to download a copy of the library list spreadsheet for their own use at home.

As always we welcome feedback from members, drop the librarian (Jim Hay) a line at howard9841931@hotmail.co.uk

Should any members require a printed list, or have any particular requirements please feel free to contact the Society librarian by email or by post.

The Society would like to establish a Midlands area group to replace the recently defunct Staffordshire area group, and David Jones has offered to co-ordinate efforts.  Anybody interested in helping and/or attend meetings is invited to contact David.

It would be useful to know which centres people might be able to attend (Stoke, Stafford, Uttoxeter, Burton, Derby and Lichfield are suggestions) and how much per meeting you would think it worth contributing to meet costs. It is possible that joint meetings with another Society could be a way forward – any suggestions would be appreciated. David can be contacted on email at:  davidandrosjones@hotmail.co.uk or at 22 Maple Close, Doveridge, Ashbourne DE6 5LU
